OAKVILLE, ON: The Humber Hawks started their first season match with a tough 5 set win over the Sheridan Bruins on October 24, 2015.

Winning the first two sets 25-14 and 25-18 the Hawks were looking like this would be a three set victory. However, the Hawks started the third set shaky, and fell to the Bruins 21-25.

Despite a few bad calls from referees the Hawks fought back against adversity in the fourth set, and with a huge kill from Alley Newman, the energy spiked back up to a normal high for Humber.

"Things weren't going our way… things we couldn't necessarily control." Said Newman, "We're trying to send a message that we are here to compete, and sometimes we try a little to hard to ensure that message is received."

The Hawks lost the fourth set 18-25.

The gym was tense as the Hawks entered their fifth set to decide the match. The first few points were very back and fourth until a long rally in ending in favour of the Hawks set the tone for the rest of the match. The final score for the game was 15-9 for Humber.

The Hawks take on Redeemer on Thursday October 29, 2015 at home for their season home opener.
