Women’s Soccer Picks Up Six Points on the Weekend

SARNIA – Humber women's soccer (3-1-1, 2nd West) picked up six crucial points over the weekend, extending its win streak to three straight matches.

On Sept. 21, Humber escaped St. Clair (2-3, 6th West), 2-1. In the opening half, the Hawks scored in the 42nd minute to take the early lead. Claudia Piazza, making her season debut, scored her first goal of the season off of a corner kick.

Early in the second half, the Saints capitalized on another defensive miscue, scoring on their only opportunity of the match.

Piazza responded in the 75th minute, striking a deep ball to the top corner for the game-winning goal.

With little time for rest, Humber went on to play Lambton (0-4-1, 9th OCAA) on Sept. 22. The Hawks played their most complete game of the season and the offence exploded for eight goals in the first 48 minutes of the match. Humber recorded a season-high 38 shots and second-year keeper Courtney Nadeau made five saves to record her second career clean sheet.
