Women's Soccer Battles No. 3 Fanshawe to a 1-1 Draw

VAUGHAN – At home for the first time this season, Humber women's soccer battled No. 3 Fanshawe (1-0-1, 2nd West) to a 1-1 draw at the Ontario Soccer Centre.

In a rematch of the 2018 OCAA title game, Humber looked to get on the board early. The Hawks pressured the Falcons for the majority of the first half, recording three shots on net but was unable to beat the Fanshawe keeper, Breanne Carreiro.

After the break, Fanshawe's ball movement improved and the Falcons found multiple scoring opportunities but was unable to beat all-star keeper Vanessa Fiore.

Humber's best look game at the 68-minute mark when Breanna Senfner beat the Falcons defender and struck a shot from outside the 18-yard box but Carreiro made a brilliant sprawling save to keep the match scoreless.

In the 75th minute, Taylor Thomson found a streaking Catarina Medeiros, who found the back corner of the net to give Humber the lead, 1-0.

With time running out, the Hawks were unable to clear a Fanshawe corner kick and Nicole Nielsen found the back of the net for the equalizer.
