No. 4 WOMEN'S SOCCER OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP IN DOMINANT FASHION

TORONTO, Ont – No. 4 Humber women's soccer began its OCAA title run in dominant fashion, cruising past St. Clair in the quarter-finals, 6-0.

The Hawks opened the scoring in the fifth minute when OCAA all-star Claudia Piazza drilled a deep shot past St. Clair keeper Madison Kaldenbach. Three minutes later, Emily Tirabassi broke free in the Saints zone to record another tally for Humber.

In the 14th minute, Rebecca Spratt cut deep into St. Clair territory and found Giulia Zanardi open in the box for the easy tap-in, giving Humber the early 3-0 lead.

After Nicole Lyon scored in the 41st minute, Taylor Thomson banged home a header off of a corner kick, giving Humber a 5-0 lead at the break.

The top defensive in the central division carried its dominance into the postseason, preventing St. Clair from attacking most of the match.

Claudia Piazza scored her second goal of the match in the 87th minute, going top corner on a deep drive from outside the 18-yard box.

Vanessa Fiore picked up the win for Humber in net.

• The six goals scored by Humber was the most in a postseason match since 2000, when the Hawks beat St. Lawrence 7-0.
• Keeper Vanessa Fiore picked up her fifth career OCAA postseason win, four of which came via shutout.
• The Hawks improve to 19-1 all-time in the quarter-final round.
• In 990 minutes of game time this season, Humber has yet to surrender a goal
