The Storyline
Earning a berth to the postseason with its 16th regular-season division title, No. 4 Humber women's soccer will face St. Clair (3-5-2, 4th West) in the quarter-final round of the 2018 OCAA Championship on Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. The winner will take on Cambrian or Seneca in the semifinal on Friday.
The Tournament
Humber has qualified for its 13th straight tournament, winning four provincial titles during that span.
Scouting St. Clair
- The Saints earned a trip to the tournament with an upset win over No. 11 Sheridan, 2-1, on Oct. 20 in a crossover match.
- Cassandra Rose-Medeiros led the Saints with five tallies.
- Keeper Madison Kalenbach finished with a 3-5-1 record on the season, allowing 16 goals and making 73 saves.
Deja Vu
Humber and St. Clair will meet in the quarter-finals for the third straight year. Last season, the Hawks came away with a 1-0, as Vanessa Fiore recorded the clean sheet and Claudia Piazza scored Humber's lone tally.
Historic Season
- For the first time in program history, Humber did not surrender a goal all season. Keepers Vanessa Fiore and Courtney Nadeau combined for ten clean sheets.
- Humber's regular season shutout streak to 1,319 consecutive minutes.
- Humber's 52 goals are the most in program history, surpassing the previous high of 48 established in 2000.
- 14 players recorded at least one goal for the Hawks this season, the most since 2011.
- Zoe Longsworth and Giulia Zanardi led the team with eight goals, each. Longsworth now sits ninth all-time on Humber's career scoring list with 15 goals.
- Humber's goal differential of plus-52 was the best mark in the OCAA.
OCAA Banquet
Wednesday will be the annual awards banquet, hosted by Seneca College. Regular season awards will be announced by the league during the evening.
