ZANARDI NETS TWO AS No. 4 WOMEN’S SOCCER BLANKS UTM, 5-0

MISSISSAUGA, Ont – The No. 4 Humber women's soccer team (6-0, 1st Central) cruised to another victory Saturday afternoon, defeating UTM (1-5, 5th Central), 5-0.

The Hawks jumped on the board early, when Rebecca Spratt scored in the second minute – her fifth goal of the season.

Giulia Zanardi scored in the 12th minute, converting on a pass from Mikaela Zeballos, giving the Hawks a 2-0 lead.

Shaniece Bennett recorded her fourth tally of the season in the 33rd minute, on a setup from Taylor Thomson.

UTM keeper Nida Zaidi was busy in the first half, making eight saves to keep the Eagles within striking distance at the break.

Humber continued to push in the second half when Rebecca Spratt found Giulia Zanardi, who recorded her second goal of the match – giving the Hawks a 4-0 lead after 57 minutes of play.

An own goal by the Eagles in final minutes sealed the victory for Humber, who swept the season series against UTM.

Freshman keeper Courtney Nadeau made her OCAA debut for Humber, making three saves to record her first career victory.
