BIG SECOND HALF LIFTS No. 7 WOMEN'S SOCCER OVER CAMBRIAN, 5-0

VAUGHAN, Ont – No. 7 Humber soccer (4-0, 1st Central) continued its hot start to the 2018 season, running past Cambrian (2-3, 4th Central) 5-0 at the Ontario Soccer Centre.

The Hawks pressed hard in the opening half, creating open looks and early scoring opportunities. Cambrian keeper Megan Coutu played outstanding in net, making 14 saves – including multiple highlight saves – in the first frame to keep the game at a 0-0 draw at the half.

After the break, Claudia Piazza was finally able to beat Coutu, giving Humber a 1-0 lead in the 47th minute. Shortly after, Emily Tirabassi scored her second of the season, putting Humber up by two.

Freshman Lily Campbell had numerous scoring chances throughout the match found difficulty trying to beat the Cambrian keeper. Finally, in the 68th minute, Campbell found the back of the net, recording her first career goal for Humber.

In the 81st minute, Giulia Zanardi converted a beautiful cross from Hayley Mackie, recording her third goal of the season.

As time ran down, Rebecca Spratt scored, securing Humber's 5-0 win.

All-Star Vanessa Fiore recorded her fourth win of the season and has yet to surrender a goal.

No. 7 Humber will host the George Brown Huskies (2-2, 3rd Central) Wed. Sept. 26 at the Ontario Soccer Centre. Gametime is set for 4:30 p.m. and will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.
