HAWKS OPEN 2018 SEASON WITH DOMINATING 5-0 ROAD WIN OVER CAMBRIAN

SUDBURY, ON: Great things are expected of the 2018 version of the Humber Hawks women's soccer team, and if today's 5-0 win over Cambrian is any indication, Humber is well on their way to fulfilling expectations.

In the season opening match-up with the second best team in the tough Central Division last year in the Cambrian Golden Shield, the Hawks ran away with the game early and never looked back.

Rebecca Spratt broke the deadlock early with a strike to the low left end of the Golden Shield net. Nicole Lyon followed up quickly with her first of the year. Emily Tirabassi, on her return from an injury last season, scored to run the lead to 3-0. Before the half ended, it was Spratt yet again.

The Hawks top sniper from 2017, Giulia Zanardi, tinkled the twine in the second half to complete the scoring.

Vanessa Fiore was stellar once again, recording yet another clean sheet in her career at Humber.
