LAST TIME OUT VS CAMBRIAN
Rebecca Spratt was the lone goal scorer for the Hawks in the 1-0 victory at Humber's home pitch in Vaughan. Her tally came early in the second half, after a tight battle in the first stanza. Vanessa Fiore was brilliant once again, as she recorded her fifth shutout of the season. On the day, Humber outshot the visitors 19-10.
SCOUTING CAMBRIAN
- The Golden Shield finished a solid second in the Central Division, with a mark of 8-2 – with both losses coming at the Hands of the Hawks (3-1 and 1-0)
- While hosting the 2017 OCAA Championship event, the Golden Shield went in as medal contenders but dropped their first championship play-off game to Seneca by a score of 2-1, then were dumped by Mohawk 2-0 in the consolation semi-final
- Scoring machine Tiffany Johnson led the entire OCAA with 21 goals in nine games. She is the OCAA all-time leading scorer, with 83 tallies over four seasons of play
HAWK NOTES
- Humber completed the 2017 regular season with a perfect mark of 10-0, scoring 43 times while surrendering only 3
- They won back-to-back play-off games by identical 1-0 scores, and then dropped the final 2-1 to Algonquin. Of note, Humber outshot the two-time defending champs in the contest
- Humber boasts a skilled veteran team, led by top goal scorer Giulia Zanardi (10) and keeper Fiore
- It has been a strong recruiting year for the Hawks, and with these additions, they should be in a solid position to contend for OCAA gold
CHASING HISTORY
- Zanardi and Rebecca Spratt are in a position to break into the Hawks career scoring record book, and either could move up significantly by seasons end
- Keeper stats were not kept until this past season, but Fiore's efforts would her at or near the top of all-time shutouts
HALL OF FAME CALLING
- Hawks women's soccer legends Keyla Moreno and Sonia Rocha will be inducted into the Humber Varsity Hall of Fame this coming November
