U Sports All-Canadian Signs with Humber Soccer

ETOBICOKE, Ont -- The Humber Hawks women's soccer program is pleased to announce the signing of Nicole Lyon for the upcoming 2018 varsity soccer season, announced co-head coach Vince Pileggi.

Lyon joins the Humber program with an impressive soccer resume after playing three seasons with the Laurier Golden Hawks of the Ontario University Athletics conference.

"Nicole is a very special player who comes to Humber with incredible playing credentials," said Coach Pileggi, who has helped the Hawks capture 16 indoor and outdoor soccer championships in 22 years. "She is an attacking player who has excellent footwork, playmaking ability and is a gifted goal scorer. She will make an instant impact on the team."

Lyon received numerous soccer offers when she played for the Grand River Renegades in high school, ultimately choosing to sign with the Laurier Golden Hawks in 2013. In three seasons with Laurier, she scored 30 goals and recorded five assists in 42 regular season OUA matches.

This past season, Lyon was named the OUA West Most Valuable Player and a U SPORTS First-Team All-Canadian.

A native of Kitchener, Ont., Lyon has enrolled in the Sport Management program, a three-year advanced diploma at Humber College.

Lyon will join incoming recruit Breanna Senfner for the upcoming 2018 varsity season, as the Hawks look to make the OCAA finals for the third consecutive year. Last season, Humber finished 10-0-0 in league play, concluding the year with a plus-38 goal differential.
