Branch, De Luca Honoured at Annual League Banquet

BELLEVILLE – The defending provincial champion Humber rugby sevens garnered numerous accolades Friday evening when the league announced its yearly awards as determined by a polling of the conference's coaches.

Senior Christina Branch was the headliner on the evening after she was named the OCAA Player of the Year. The Oshawa native became the first player in program history to receive the honour and concludes her prestigious career as the OCAA's all-time leading scorer with 537 points. Now a two-time league all-star, Branch owns numerous league records, including most conversions (106), points in a season (180), converts in a season (40), points in a game (30), and converts in a game (6).

For the third consecutive season, senior Cheyenne De Luca was selected as a league all-star. The Toronto native became the first player in league history to win the OCAA scoring title twice, and her 31 tries broke Michaela Knowles' OCAA record of 26 from 2016. De Luca finishes her regular-season career second all-time in scoring (387), most career tries (74), most tries in a season (31), and most tries in a game (5).
