Humber Rugby Star Heading West for Olympic Showcase

LANGFORD, B.C. – Humber rugby sevens all-star Cheyenne De Luca was selected to the Rugby Canada Development Academy's (RCDA's) East team and will join the next generation of rugby sevens stars and Olympic hopefuls on the pitch in the NextGen Langford Sevens tournament.

The three-day event will take place during the HSBC Canada Women's Sevens tournament weekend on May 10-12th, 2019.

The focus of the tournament is on the future of Canada's National Women's Sevens program. The RCDA's success has already been proven as a pathway program, with several athletes moving up to the senior program in the past few years and competing on development tours. The NextGen pathway is building towards Paris 2024.

De Luca was the 2018 OCAA scoring champion and sits third all-time in league scoring. She helped the Humber capture its second provincial title in three years and was named the 2018 Championship MVP.
