HAWKS SHUT OUT OF GOLD MEDAL AND PERFECT SEASON IN 15-0 LOSS

PETERBOROUGH, ON: The Humber Hawks women's rugby 7's team were on the verge of a perfect season after a 16-0 regular season and 1-0 play-off marks, but were dominated 15-0 in the final by the 12-5 Seneca Sting in the 2017 OCAA gold medal game.

With the loss, the Hawks claim the silver medal.

Semi-Final
Humber 19 vs Algonquin 17

Humber struggled to find any tempo in the semi-final in the 19-17 come-from-behind win over the Thunder. This is the same Algonquin team that the Hawks dismantled 39-0 just two weeks ago. Humber had to score late to secure the win and a trip to the final.

Scoring tries for Humber were Christina Branch, Cheyenne De Luca and Deandra Medford.

Daniella Grant was the Humber player of the game.

Championship Final
Humber 0 vs Seneca 15

In a match-up between the first and second place teams in regular season play, it was the second place Sting that saw past their 0-2 record (43-7 in points) against Humber, to dominate the play. The score was 10-0 in favour of the Sting at the half, and the Hawks would only see that lead grow. This is the first time in 15's rugby and 7's rugby that Humber has been shut-out.

Christina Branch was selected as Humber's player of the game. Branch and Daniella Grant were honoured as tournament all-stars.
