GRANT, De LUCA EARN ALL-OCAA HONOURS

The duo was named to the 2017 OCAA rugby sevens all-star team.


PETERBOROUGH, Ont – At the second annual OCAA women's rugby sevens awards banquet, the league announced Daniella Grant and Cheyenne De Luca were named to the all-star team, as determined by a polling of the conference's coaches.

For the second consecutive year, Grant was named to the all-star team, becoming the first player at Humber to accomplish this feat. In nine matches this season, Grant scored 11 tries and finished 12th in the league in scoring.

Cheyenne De Luca was rewarded for her big season after scoring the second most tries in the OCAA. De Luca scored 17 tries in 15 matches, good enough for fourth in the league. Her 85 points is the fourth highest total in program history.

The duo helped lead Humber to numerous OCAA records, including season wins (16), points scored (531), and points allowed (68).

The end of the banquet marks the beginning of the 2017 OCAA Championship, hosted by Fleming College.  Humber's semifinal matchup begins Nov. 4 at 11 a.m.
