No. 3 Women's Basketball Concludes First Half Undefeated

ETOBICOKE— No. 3 Humber women's basketball wrapped up the first half of its season with a win, defeating the Conestoga Condors (5-5, 5th West), 66-47, Thursday evening at the North Campus Gym. 

Fourth-year forward Miea Campbell-Johnson was the story on the night, as the Brampton native set a new program record picking up her 59th career block as a member of the Hawks. Campbell-Johnson wasn't done there, as she also became just the ninth player in Humber history to record 600 career-points. 

It was Humber's defence that set the tone in the opening half, as they held Conestoga to 17 points on seven-of-28 (25 percent) shooting from the field. The Hawks were effective on the offensive end scoring 30 points on 13-of-39 (33.3 percent) shooting from the field, as they took a 13-point lead into the break. 

Humber's lead shrank to just eight entering the fourth quarter, as the Condors put up 19 in the third quarter. The Hawks answered the bell down the stretch, saving their best work for the final quarter. Humber outscored Conestoga 22-11 in the fourth quarter shooting 9-for-17 (52.9 percent) from the field. With the win, Humber enters the break undefeated with a perfect 10-0 record.

Jeylinh Bui was a standout in her first game for Humber, as the Toronto native finished with 11 points, two assists, one rebound, two blocks, and a steal. 

Campbell-Johnson and Jahnae Gyles were the only other Hawks to finish the game in double figures. Gyles finished the game with 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and four steals on the night. Campbell-Johnson picked up 12 points, eight rebounds, three assists, four blocks and three steals in the win.
