No. 3 Women's Basketball Sweeps Weekend Series at Sault

SAULT STE. MARIE— No. 3 Humber women's basketball completed the sweep of their weekend doubleheader, defeating the Sault Cougars (0-10, 9th West), 79-44, Sunday afternoon.

For the second straight game, Jahnae Gyles paced the offence for Humber in the win, finishing with 16 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals. 

The Hawks struggled on offence in the first half, scoring just 33 points on 13-of-49 (26.5 percent) shooting from the field. It was a different story for Humber on the defensive end as they shut down the host Cougars holding them to 20 points in the half on eight-of-35 (22.9 percent) shooting.

Humber's offence came to life to start the second half, as the Hawks put up 28 points in the third quarter to take a commanding 29-point lead into the fourth. Humber cruised through the fourth quarter with the game well in hand, picking up its ninth straight win of the season.

The Hawks showcased their depth in the win over Sault as all nine players scored at least five points in the win. Three players finished in double-figures as Gyles had a game-high 16 points, while Farah Alfar and Kia Watt rounded out the double-digit scorers for Humber as they recorded 12 points, each.

No. 3 Humber women's basketball (9-0, 1st West) will return to the North Campus Gym Dec. 5 to face off against the Conestoga Condors (5-4, 5th West). Tip-off is set for 6:00 pm.
