Bechard Returns to the Hawks Line-up for the 2019-20 Season

ETOBICOKE, Ont -- Amber Bechard, a four-year standout with the Humber Hawks women's basketball team, will return to the line-up this coming season for her fifth and final year after a two-year absence.

Bechard helped lead the Hawks to the 2015-16 CCAA National Women's' Basketball title, a first for any OCAA women's team in any major team sport. She added a CCAA National bronze in 2016-17, and three OCAA Provincial Championships.

Known as a defensive specialist, being tasked to defend the best player on the opposition, her rabid approach to the game yielded incredible benefits that resulted in victories on most nights. She was honoured for her play at the 2017 OCAA Championship, as she was selected as a tournament all-star.

Her absence was well spent, as the 2017-18 season saw her travel to Europe, obtaining her BSc (Hons) in Sports Studies from the University of the West of England. The next year was even more eventful, as she brought her beautiful son, Mason, into the world.

Amber will add on to her educational resume as she has enrolled in the Media Foundations Program at Humber.

"Amber brought an intensity to the court that we have been unable to duplicate since she left," said Hawks head coach Ajay Sharma. "Her leadership both on and off the court, will play a big factor in our future success."
