WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TRIO NAMED OCAA ALL-STARS

KINGSTON, Ont – Four-time defending OCAA champion Humber women's basketball garnered numerous league accolades Wednesday evening when the OCAA announced its yearly awards as determined by a polling of the conference's coaches.

No. 10 Humber finished second in the OCAA West Division, ending the year with an 18-2 record.

Leticia Lopez, Jahnae Gyles, and Miea Campbell-Johnson were all named second-team all-stars – marking the first time Humber basketball had three players named to the all-star team since the 2014-15 season.

Lopez left her best season for last, cementing her legacy as one of Humber's top perimeter threats. The Toronto native hit a league-best 58 3-pointers – the second most in program history. Lopez's career-high 269 points led Humber this season and was the ninth most all-time.

Fourth-year guard Jahnae Gyles received her first OCAA all-star selection after averaging 14.5 points-per-game this season. In Humber's win over Redeemer on Feb. 9, Gyles scored a career-high 35 points, finishing 8-of-13 (61.5 per cent) from behind the arc.

Third-year forward Miea Campbell-Johnson recorded a team-best seven double-doubles this season, earning her first league all-star selection. MCJ recorded a career-high 225 points and her 152 boards were the sixth-most in team history.

Humber has now received 16 OCAA All-Star selections in the Ajay Sharma era.

The end of the banquet marks the beginning of the 2019 OCAA Championship presented by belairdirect, hosted by St. Lawrence College.  The quarter-final matchup for No. 10 Humber on Feb. 28 will be against Durham and tipoff is set for 3 p.m
