No. 2 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WINS HOME FINALE OVER MOHAWK, 70-46

ETOBICOKE, Ont -- No. 11 Humber women's basketball (17-2, 2nd West) was too much to handle Wednesday night, winning its last regular season home game, 70-46, against Mohawk (5-14, 8th West).

Five players for the Hawks had double-figures in points. Miea Campbell-Johnson led the way with 14 points and six rebounds. Brittania Brown, Leticia Lopez, Laura Meadows and Jahnae Gyles rounded out the rest of Humber's double-digit scorers, finishing with 12, 12, 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Evidently, the Hawks seniors led the way to start the game. Eboni Beals and Anna Jacobs were placed in the starting lineup and made their presence felt immediately. Humber jumped out to an early lead and was locked in defensively the entire game. The Mountaineers struggled to gain any sort of offensive flow to begin the game and it continued throughout the night. In the last two minutes of the first, Meia Cambell-Johnson got hot and helped the Hawks take a double-digit lead as they headed into the second quarter with a 24-12 lead.

Humber continued to dominate in the second quarter, pushing their lead to 21 led by the hot hands of Leticia Lopez. This put the game out of hands and helped the Hawks maintain a big lead going into halftime up 43-26. The team continued their tough defence allowing Mohawk to score only 20 points in the second half. Humber's lead continued to grow and they successfully put the game away.

It was not a great shooting night for either team. Hawks shot 32.6 per cent from the field (28-of-86), while the Mountaineers shot 22 per cent from the field (13-of-63). Humber capitalized on the poor shooting coming down with a season-high 62 rebounds. The Hawks defence was in full display as they had 14 steals, leading to 25 points off turnovers, and 22 team assists.  

Prior to the game, Leticia Lopez, Laura Meadows, Anna Jacobs, and Eboni Beals were honoured for their career with the Humber Hawks. They received a great standing ovation and their names will forever be immortalized as they were all a part of last year's national championship team.

What's Next?
No. 11 Humber will wrap up the regular season on Feb. 15 at Sheridan (15-4, 3rd West). Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
