ANCASTER, Ont -- No. 11 Humber women's basketball (16-2, 2nd West) team took care of business on the road Saturday afternoon, defeating the Redeemer Royals (4-14, 10th West), 92-69.

It was a career night for Jahnae Gyles who finished with a career-high 35 points. Laura Meadows added 13 points, while Brittney English scored 11 points off of the bench.

Humber's offence was rolling to begin the game, jumping out to an early 14-7 lead, but found themselves in early foul trouble. As a result, the Royals cut Humber's lead to three with just 1:30 to go in the first quarter. Luckily for the Hawks, there was no stopping Jahnae Gyles who had the hot hand all game. She helped her team pull away with back-to-back three-pointers.

Midway through the second quarter, Hawks took a 42-23 lead as their defence held Redeemer to 30 per cent (11-of-36) shooting from the field at halftime. Humber's offence was just as good, their playmaking ability was on full display as they went into halftime with 16 assists. Despite the big lead, Humber continued to be in foul troubles, racking up 14 fouls in the first half which helped the Royals stay in the game. The halftime score was 51-34.

Jahnae Gyles was absolutely unstoppable in the first half. Royals had no answer for Gyles who went into halftime with 21 points while shooting 70 per cent (seven-for-10) from three-point range.

The brilliant playmaking for Humber continued in the second half, as they continued sharing the ball while shooting the ball efficiently. After taking their biggest lead of the game, 72-50 the Redeemer head coach called a timeout, leaving all chance of a comeback to rest. The Hawks bench was also a key factor, contributing 25 points as they helped to maintain the big lead throughout the night.
