SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont -- No. 11 Humber women's basketball (14-2, 2nd West) concluded its northwest Ontario trip with a big win over Sault College (0-15, 11th West) Sunday afternoon, 90-35. It was a much better performance on both ends of the court for the Hawks. Their shots were falling all game and their defence shut down the Cougars.
Humber began the first half on fire. After scoring 27 points in the second quarter, and allowing the Cougars to score only 10 points, the game was decided by halftime as the Hawks took a 46-21 lead. The rest of the game was the same story as the team continued to dominate on both ends of the court and kept growing its lead.
Five players for Humber scored in double figures. Third-year guard Anna Jacobs finished with a career-high 18 points off the bench. Jacobs led all scorers while doing so efficiently, shooting 85 per cent (6-of-7) from the field. First-year guard Evelyn Anang also finished the game with a career-high 13 points. Eboni Beals recorded her first double-double of the season, finishing with ten points while grabbing 17 rebounds. The 49 points coming off the bench was a season-high for the Hawks. Their bench outscored the entire Cougars team, showcasing their deep depth.
With their offence clicking at a high-rate, Humber's defence was also impressive as they held the Cougars 18 per cent (10-for-56) shooting from the field. The Hawks also came away with a season-high 18 steals, forcing the Cougars to commit 30 turnovers throughout the game. Jahnae Gyles was picking pockets all game, as she finished with a career-high seven steals. This big win came at a perfect time, as Humber prepares to play its final stretch of the regular season and could use the momentum.

No. 11 Humber returns to the North Campus Gym Feb. 7 to conclude its regular season series with Niagara (9-7, 6th West). Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. and will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.
