No. 12 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CONCLUDES ROAD TRIP WITH WIN AT LAMBTON, 87-50

SARNIA, Ont -- No. 12 Humber women's basketball (10-1, 2nd West) concluded their southwest Ontario road trip with another dominating victory, defeating the Lambton Lions (7-6, 4th West) 87-50, and extending their win streak to ten straight games.

Humber has caught fire at the perfect time in the season. With most of their players making their return from injury, the team's chemistry and defensive intensity continue to impress. Needless to say, they will be ready to defend their crown come playoff time.

The start of the game did not go as the Hawks anticipated. Miscommunication and lack of effort led to ill-advised turnovers. The Lions capitalized on Humber's mistakes and jumped to an early lead. After a timeout from Coach Sharma, everything changed. He preached the importance of moving the ball quicker, and the team answered. Makeba Taylor's intensity on both ends of the floor set the tone. She led the way in the first half with 11 points and was the usual defensive anchor for the Hawks in the first half. Unfortunately, she tweaked her ankle and was ruled out for the rest of the game in the second quarter, but helped the Hawks go into the break with a 40-25 lead.

The second half was all Humber as they took over the game on both ends. The Hawks erupted on a 22-5 run in the third quarter paving the way for a blowout. Laura Meadows and Miea Campbell-Johnson picked up where they left off last night and continued their dominance in the post. Campbell-Johnson recorded her second consecutive double-double - fifth of the season - finishing with a game-high 21 points and 11 rebounds. Laura Meadows was the second-highest scorer of the game, finishing with 15 points. Leticia Lopez also had a good game finishing with 14 points and seven assists.

The Hawks have been a threat on the glass all season long. They lead the league in rebounding, averaging 54.1 - including 35.4 rpg on the defensive end of the floor. This was a significant threat tonight as they outrebounded the Lions 47-35. It was a perfect road trip for the Hawks, and they will look to continue their momentum as they return home for their next game.

No. 12 Humber returns to the North Campus Gym to conclude its regular season series with UTM (4-7, 8th West). Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. and will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network
