NOFUENTE WINS THIRD STRAIGHT PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD

Ceejay Nofuente became the first player in league history to be named OCAA Player of the Year three times.

ETOBICOKE, Ont – Ceejay Nofuente has been doing things no other OCAA women's basketball player has done in history, and she isn't finished yet.

As determined by a polling of the league's coaches, Nofuente was awarded her third straight OCAA Player of the Year award Thursday evening at the Holiday Inn - Toronto Airport.

Since the awards inception in 2003, no student-athlete has won three times. Nofuente has been the top player in the league since 2015.

At the annual awards banquet, the Toronto native was named a first team all-star for the fourth straight year, while also being named a CCAA All-Canadian for the third consecutive season. Nofuente joins legends Patrick Rhodd, Kelly Nyhof and Joanna Vitale as the only league sports players at Humber to be named an All-Canadian three times.

At the conclusion of the regular season, Nofuente had set the OCAA record for assists (140) and steals (149) for the third straight year. She finished with 78 more steals than any player in the country.

A five-foot-eight point guard, Nofuente established a new program record with 27 blocked shots this season, the third-highest total in the league.

As one of the most decorated student-athletes in CCAA history, Nofuente's brilliant career is coming to a close. Her career accolades are second to none, and she is at the top of every major statistical category at Humber College. With Nofuente in the lineup, Humber is 86-0 all-time against OCAA competition.

Despite the numerous awards and accolades, Nofuente's main goal is to return the Hawks to provincial and national glory.  Top-ranked Humber will be looking to win its fourth straight provincial title, beginning Mar. 2 against St. Clair (12-8, 5th West). Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. and will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.
