No. 1 HUMBER CONCLUDES REGULAR SEASON WEDNESDAY

The Storyline
Top-ranked Humber will conclude its 2017-18 regular season schedule Wednesday on the road at Redeemer (9-10, 7th West). Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. and the live stream can be found by clicking here.

Last Time Out
Behind a game-high 23 points from Aleena Domingo, Humber (19-0, 1st West) cruised to a 93-68 victory over St. Clair (11-8, 5th West) Saturday night at the North Campus Gym.

For the second straight game, the Hawks trailed after ten minutes of play, but halftime adjustments allowed Humber to outscore St. Clair 48-27 in the second half.

Ceejay Nofuente recorded her 11th double-double of the season, while Brittney English scored a career-high 11 points, including 2-of-4 from behind the arc.

Scouting Redeemer

• Redeemer has clinched a playoff spot, sitting with 18 points in the West Division.
• After winning only three games during the first half, the Royals have won six of their last seven games.
• Jessica Bosma leads the team in scoring, averaging 19.1 ppg, the third-best mark in the OCAA.
• Redeemer is 0-19 all-time against Humber at home.

Previous Meeting
Humber rolled to 102-43 win over Redeemer on Nov. 11 at the North Campus Gym. Nofuente nearly missed a quadruple-double, finishing with a game-high 22 points, nine rebounds, nine assists, eight rebounds, and eight steals. Aleena Domingo added 14 points, while Miea Campbell-Johnson finished with 12 points and Jahnae Gyles rounded out Humber's double-digit scorers with 11.

Lasting Legacy
Before Saturday's game against St. Clair, Humber Athletics retired Ceejay Nofuente's jersey, while simultaneously inducting her into the Humber Hall of Fame. Nofuente joins Denice Cummings (1989 – 93) and Denise Perrier (1990 – 93) as the only women's basketball players to have their jerseys retired.

Getting Defensive
Humber ranks first in field goal defence (27.1), first in scoring defence (45.3), first in blocks (5.7) and first in steals (19.8).

Ceejay Nofuente leads the league in steals (142) and is third in blocks (26), while teammate Laura Meadows sits ninth with 20 blocked shots.

Under Ajay Sharma, the Hawks have held opponents to 50 points or less 11 times this season.

300-Point Club
On Feb. 17, Aleena Domingo became the fourth Humber player in program history to join the 300-point club.

Domingo and Nofuente are the only teammates to score 300-plus points in the same season for Humber.

Just Win
Humber's win against St. Clair was its 77th consecutive OCAA victory, extending its league record.

The previous mark of 67 was established by head coach John MacInnis and the Algonquin Thunder from Nov. 2011 – Jan. 2015. The Hawks matched that mark with a 28-point win over No. 15 Fanshawe on Nov. 15.

Collecting Dimes
Ceejay Nofuente and Felicia Velasquez are the league's top ball distributors. Their combined total of 244 assists is more than eight OCAA teams have recorded this season.

Doubling Down
Humber has recorded 24 double-doubles in 19 games this season.

Top Spot
Since the beginning of the 2016 season, Humber has been the top-ranked program in the country.

All-Ontario
Ceejay Nofuente and Aleena Domingo, who sit third and seventh on the OCAA career scoring list, are the highest scoring teammates in league history. Together, the duo has scored 2,365 career points.

#CH4SEHISTORY
The Hawks are in pursuit of their fourth consecutive provincial championship, looking to become only the second program in OCAA history to complete the feat. Algonquin won four straight from 2011 – 2014.

All-Time Team
Through 19 games, Humber has recorded new program highs in: field-goals made (722), 3-pointers made (174), 3-point percentage (33.4), points (1,816), points per game (95.6), rebounds (1,141), blocks (109), steals (376), and assists (451).

Alone at the Top
On Feb. 11 at Fanshawe, head coach Ajay Sharma became the programs all-time winningest coach, surpassing Hall of Famer Jim Henderson's (1991 – 2000) mark of 133 wins.

Sharma has directed the Hawks to a period of unprecedented prosperity in the form of three consecutive CCAA tournament appearances – including the first national championship in program history – and three straight provincial titles.

What's Next
No. 1 Humber will await its quarterfinal matchup in the 2018 OCAA Women's Basketball Provincial Championship. The quarterfinals will take place at Humber College on March 2 and will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.
