The Storyline
Top-ranked Humber women's basketball will return to the North Campus Gym Saturday evening to conclude its season series with Niagara (10-5, 4th West). The game will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network at 6 p.m. with Derrick Sutherland and Josh Rawlings on the call.

Last Time Out
Humber played its toughest game of the season Tuesday night, defeating No. 9 Mohawk (13-3, 2nd West), 87-72. Ceejay Nofuente finished with a team-high 23 points and added seven steals, while Aleena Domingo recorded her sixth consecutive double-double, finishing with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Miea Campbell-Johnson finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Jahnae Gyles added 12 points of her own.

In the second quarter, Gyles hit Humber's 150th 3-pointer of the year, breaking the OCAA record established by Seneca in 2013.

Scouting Niagara

  • Niagara enters the matchup on a three-game win streak, coming off an 83-80 overtime win against Sheridan (8-7, 6th West) Wednesday night.
  • All-time, Niagara is 6-14 (.300) at the North Campus Gym, including four straight losses.
  • Mary Ingribelli – third all-time on Niagara's career scoring list – leads the Knights offensively, averaging 17.2 ppg. Ingribelli is tied for first in the league in 3-pointers made, shooting 36.8 percent (42-of-112) from behind the arc.

Last Meeting
To conclude the 2017 portion of its schedule, Humber went to the Welland Campus Athletic Centre and beat the Knights, 102-50. Jahnae Gyles scored a season-high 28 points, including 6-of-10 from 3-point range.

Humber's defence held Niagara to its second-lowest scoring total of the season.

Just Win
Humber's win at Mohawk was its 73rd consecutive OCAA victory, extending its league record.

The previous mark of 67 was established by head coach John MacInnis and the Algonquin Thunder from Nov. 2011 – Jan. 2015. The Hawks matched that mark with a 28-point win over No. 15 Fanshawe on Nov. 15.

Humber's Dynamic Duo
Entering the 2017-18 season, no Humber student-athlete had ever reached the 1,000-point club. 13 games later, Humber's dynamic duo of Ceejay Nofuente (1,200) and Aleena Domingo (1,040) started the club, becoming the second-highest scoring teammates in league history.

Snapped
Humber's program record of 13 consecutive games scoring 90-plus points came to an end Tuesday night against Mohawk.

Doubling Down
Humber has recorded 20 double-doubles in 15 games this season.

Top Spot
Since the beginning of the 2016 season, Humber has been the top-ranked program in the country.

#CH4SEHISTORY
The Hawks are in pursuit of their fourth consecutive provincial championship, looking to become only the second program in OCAA history to complete the feat. Algonquin won four straight from 2011 – 2014.

Duplicate?
The Humber record book and OCAA record book are beginning to look very similar. The Hawks now own five OCAA team scoring records, including points in a game (125), points in a season (1503), 2-point field goals in a game (55), 2-point field goals in a season (568), and 3-point field goals in a season (150).

Humber needs 20 more points to set the OCAA record for points in a season for the third straight year.

All-Time List
Nofuente now sits third on the OCAA all-time scoring list with 1,200 career points - 81 points behind Shannon Kennedy of St. Clair.

At the Helm
Ajay Sharma returns to the sidelines for his seventh season and is two wins from tying Humber Hall of Famer Jim Henderson (1991 – 2000) as the all-time winningest head coach in program history.

Sharma has directed the Hawks to a period of unprecedented prosperity in the form of three consecutive CCAA tournament appearances – including the first national championship in program history – and three straight provincial titles.  Sharma owns a 131-22 (.856) career record.

2018 OCAA Provincial Championship
Humber is the proud host of the 2018 OCAA Women's Basketball Provincial Championship March 2-4 at the North Campus Gym. All games will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.

What's Next
Humber will begin a two-game road trip, beginning with UTM (5-10, 8th West) on Feb. 7. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
