No. 1 HUMBER BREAKS ANOTHER OCAA RECORD IN WIN

HAMILTON, Ont – Top-ranked Humber broke the OCAA record for 3-pointers made in a season Thursday night en route to an 87-72 win over No. 9 Mohawk (13-3, 3rd West).

Ceejay Nofuente finished with a team-high 23 points and added seven steals, while Aleena Domingo recorded her sixth consecutive double-double, finishing with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Miea Campbell Johnson finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Jahnae Gyles added 12 points of her own.

Humber (15-0, 1st West) struggled from the tipoff, as early fouls and missed open looks prevented the Hawks from storming out to their usual big lead. After the first ten minutes, Humber held a 16-11 lead.

Mohawk strung together a 7-2 run in the second frame to tie the game at 3:26 mark. Less than a minute later, sharpshooter Jahnae Gyles hit Humber's 150th 3-pointer of the season to establish a new OCAA record.

Humber shot 14-of-44 (31.8 percent) from the floor in the first half and lead 40-31 at the break.

Returning to the game after three quick fouls, two-time All-Canadian Ceejay Nofuente scored 16 second-half points to help Humber secure the 87-72 victory.

Humber Notes

  • Humber broke Seneca's 3-point record from 2013 and now owns five OCAA single-season scoring records.
  • Humber failed to score 90-plus points for the first time since its season opener.
  • Ceejay Nofuente became just the fourth player in OCAA history to score 1,200 career points.
  • Miea Campbell-Johnson recorded her second career double-double.

  • Humber extends its OCAA win streak to 73 consecutive games.
  • All-time, the Hawks improve to 38-13 (.745) against the Mountaineers, including six straight.
  • Head coach Ajay Sharma picked up his 131st victory with Humber, passing Denise Perrier for second all-time in program history. Coach Sharma now sits two wins away from the most victories in program history.
