No. 1 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CONCLUDE HOMESTAND THURSDAY

The Storyline
Top-ranked Humber women's basketball (13-0, 1st West) will conclude its three-game homestand Thursday evening when Sheridan (7-5, 6th West) visits the North Campus Gym.

The game will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network at 6 p.m. with Matt Hammel and Zach Bader on the call, and Danielle Dupuis reporting from the sidelines.

Last Time Out
13 players scored for Humber as the Hawks cruised to a 125-26 victory over Lambton (0-13, 11th West) Friday evening at the North Campus Gym. The 125 points scored were the most in OCAA history, surpassing the previous mark of 123 established by Seneca during the 2008-09 season.

Aleena Domingo scored a game-high 20 points, becoming the second player in Humber history to score 1,000 career points. The perennial all-star also finished with a career-high 19 rebounds, becoming the first player to grab 600 career boards.

Gold Rush
The first 200 fans in attendance for Thursday's game will receive a Gold Rush Humber t-shirt.

Scouting Sheridan
The Bruins enter the matchup on a four-game win streak after sweeping Sault last weekend.

Three Sheridan student-athletes are averaging double-digits in scoring this season, led by Brianna Stewart and her 15.5 ppg. Theresa Brown is sitting at 15.3 ppg, while Sydney Charvis is averaging 11.8 ppg.

Last Meeting
During the first semester, Humber downed Sheridan, 103-32, at the Davis Gym. Ceejay Nofuente paced a triplet of Humber players to finish with a double-double, as the Hawks held the Bruins to 18.2 percent shooting (12-of-66) and 20 turnovers.

Nofuente recorded her third double-double of the season, finishing with a game-high 25 points and ten rebounds. Aleena Domingo added 20 points and ten rebounds, while Beryl Mefful finished with ten points and 12 boards.

Brianna Stewart scored a team-high 11 points for Sheridan in the loss, finishing 3-of-11 from the floor (21.4 percent).

Just Win
Humber's win against Lambton was its 71st consecutive OCAA victory, extending its league record.

The previous mark of 67 was established by head coach John MacInnis and the Algonquin Thunder from Nov. 2011 – Jan. 2015. The Hawks matched that mark with a 28-point win over No. 15 Fanshawe on Nov. 15.

Humber's Dynamic Duo
Entering the 2017-18 season, no Humber student-athlete had ever reached the 1,000 point club. 13 games later, Humber's dynamic duo of Ceejay Nofuente (1,161) and Aleena Domingo (1,003) started the club, becoming the second-highest scoring teammates in league history.

90s Babies
The Hawks have scored 90-plus points in 12 consecutive games this season, the longest streak in the Ajay Sharma era. Humber's previous high was two (six different occasions).

Doubling Down
Humber has recorded 16 double-doubles in 13 games this season.

Just a Misdemeanor
Humber is averaging 21.6 steals-per-game, the top mark in the OCAA. On Jan. 13, the Hawks forced Conestoga in 50 turnovers, 39 of which were steals. The 39 steals were the most in a game during the Ajay Sharma era, surpassing the previous high of 34 on Nov. 1, 2015, against Sault.

Top Spot
Since the beginning of the 2016 season, Humber has been the top-ranked program in the country.

#CH4SEHISTORY
The Hawks are in pursuit of their fourth consecutive provincial championship, looking to become only the second program in OCAA history to complete the feat. Algonquin won four straight from 2011 – 2014.

No Record is Safe
Over the last three seasons, Humber has broken – and rebroken – numerous OCAA team records. Averaging 99.4 ppg this year, the Hawks are on pace to break the league scoring record for the third consecutive year.

From beyond the arc, Humber has hit a league-best 139 3-pointers (10.7 per game) and is currently on pace to break the league mark of 149 – established by Fleming during the 2012-13 season.

All-Time List
Nofuente now sits fifth on the OCAA all-time scoring list with 1,161 career points, 17 points shy of Natasha Thombs' (Seneca 2003-07/08-09) mark of 1,178.

At the Helm
Ajay Sharma returns to the sidelines for his seventh season and is four wins from tying Humber Hall of Famer Jim Henderson (1991 – 2000) as the all-time winningest head coach in program history.

Sharma has directed the Hawks to a period of unprecedented prosperity in the form of three consecutive CCAA tournament appearances – including the first national championship in program history – and three straight provincial titles.  Sharma owns a 127-22 (.852) career record.

2018 OCAA Provincial Championship
Humber is the proud host of the 2018 OCAA Women's Basketball Provincial Championship March 2-4 at the North Campus Gym. All games will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.
