NOFUENTE SURPASSES 1,000-POINT MARK AGAINST REDEEMER

ETOBICOKE, Ont -- Ceejay Nofuente became the first player in Humber women's basketball history to reach the 1000-point mark with a three-pointer in the second quarter of a 102-43 win over Redeemer (2-3, 6th West) Saturday afternoon.

Nofuente nearly missed a quadruple-double, finishing with a game-high 22 points, nine rebounds, nine assists, eight rebounds, and eight steals. Aleena Domingo added 14 points, while Miea Campbell-Johnson finished with 12 points and Jahnae Gyles rounded out Humber's double-digit scorers with 11.

No. 1 Humber (6-0, 1st West) would control this game from the opening tip, scoring the first six points in the game and never relinquishing the lead.  Jahnae Gyles would help pace the Humber offence in the opening quarter scoring eight of her 11 points in the first frame as Humber took a 23-17 lead into the second.

Humber would put on a basketball clinic in the second as the defence would clamp down allowing just one field goal in the quarter, holding Redeemer to just four points, while on the offensive end putting up 33 points to break this game wide open and take a 35 point lead.

Nofuente, the fifth year guard from Toronto, came in to the game needing just 13 points to reach the 1000-point plateau and wasted little time, catching fire in the second putting up 18 of her 22 in the quarter, including a three with 3:41 left in the second to push her past 1000 points for her career.

The second half would be much of the same, as the Hawks would hold the Royals to 22 point total while putting up 46 points on the offensive end dominating in all facets of the game to win by a margin of 59. The win puts Humber at 6-0 on the young season and the 102 points mark the third time this year the Hawks have eclipsed the century mark.

The Hawks Player of the game for this one was Miea Campbell-Johnson who finished with a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds). Three other Hawks would finish in double figures with Nofuente leading the way with her 22 points.

Humber's next game will be a matchup between the top two teams in the west division, as the Hawks will take on the No. 10 Mohawk Mountaineers (6-0, 2nd West) at home on Nov 16. Catch the game live at the Humber North Campus Gym or on the Hawks Sports Network tip-off is at 6:00 pm.
