HAWKS CONTINUE ROAD TRIP ON SATURDAY AT LAMBTON

SARNIA, Ont -- Humber women's basketball (1-0, 2^nd West) returns to the hardwood Saturday for the first of a two-game road stretch, taking on Lambton (0-1, 7^th West).

The Storyline
The Hawks open the 2017 OCAA season on the road for their first three games before returning to the Humber Athletic Centre November 4.

Last Time Out
Senior Ceejay Nofuente paced Humber with her third career triple-double in the 81-29 win over Conestoga. 

A slow start to begin the game saw the Hawks hold a four-point lead after 10 minutes of play when Humber's top-ranked defence took over to create easy baskets in transition.  The Hawks forced 13 Condor turnovers in the second quarter, cruising to a 42-18 halftime lead.

Scouting Lambton
Lambton dropped its season opener to the newly formed UTM 77-54 on Oct. 21. Madisyn Campbell and Sarah Brate led the Lions in scoring, finishing with 16 points each.

Last Meeting
Behind 60 combined points from Ceejay Nofuente, Jill Semple, and Aleena Domingo, Humber downed Lambton 115-47 last season at Lambton College. The total helped Humber become the first OCAA program to score over 1,500 points in a season. 

What to Watch For

• The Hawks look to return to the top of the OCAA West Division after making an appearance in the postseason for 14 straight seasons.  Humber returns nine players, including 2016-17 All-Stars Aleena Domingo and Ceejay Nofuente, and welcomes six new faces to the 2017-18 squad.
• Ceejay Nofuente led Humber a year ago in scoring (394), assists (124), rebounds (139), and steals (101) and was named the CCAA Player of the Year for the second straight season.  She established new OCAA single-game records with 55 points and 13 three-pointers in a win over Redeemer.
• Nofuente and Aleena Domingo enter the new season sitting atop Humber's all-time scoring list, sitting with 905 and 806 points, respectively.
• Ajay Sharma returns to the sidelines for his seventh season and is 16 wins from tying Humber Hall of Famer Jim Henderson (1991 – 2000) as the all-time winningest head coach in program history.  Sharma has directed the Hawks to a period of unprecedented prosperity in the form of three consecutive CCAA tournament appearances – including the first national championship in program history – and three straight provincial titles.  Sharma owns a 117-22 career record.

All-Canadian Ceejay Nofuente sits 82 points away from becoming the first Humber women's basketball player to score 1,000 career points.

Chasing History
Sitting at 59 straight wins, only Algonquin – 67 straight from Nov. 5, 2011, to Jan. 15, 2015 – has put together a longer win streak in OCAA history than Humber.

The Hawks have won three-straight OCAA titles from 2014-16, one away from joining Algonquin, who won four-straight from 2011-15.

Humber will end its road trip Sunday, Oct. 29 against the St. Clair - the Saints' 2017 home opener.  Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
