GORDON SIGNS WITH HUMBER BASKETBALL

ETOBICOKE, Ont -- The Humber women's basketball program has signed Jaime Gordon – a five-foot-ten shooting guard who starred for the York North Avengers – as announced by head coach Ajay Sharma.

"Jaime is a tough-minded and physical basketball player who understands what a winning effort is," said Coach Sharma, the 2016 CCAA Coach of the Year.  "She has a very high ceiling with regards to her offensive development, and I'm excited to have the opportunity to help her reach her full potential."

Gordon, who hails from Cannington, Ontario, has enrolled in Humber's sport management program and will begin her studies this Fall.

"Humber is an amazing academic and athletic institution," said Gordon.  "I love working with people, and I constantly want to be surrounded in a sports environment."

For most student-athletes, joining a program that has won 58 consecutive OCAA games – including three provincial titles – may be a little nerve-racking, but not for Gordon.

"My rep team went two seasons undefeated, and we won four provincial titles."

With the loss of a few key veterans from last years 24-1 team, Gordon will play a vital role as the Hawks reload to defend their title.

"Jaime has a defensive mindset like [former Humber all-stars] Amber Bechard and Mary Asare," added Coach Sharma.

Humber College is the proud host of the 2018 OCAA Women's Basketball Championship and will have the opportunity to win its fourth provincial title on home court.

Gordon, along with incoming recruit Laura Meadows from Algoma, will join the rest of the Hawks basketball team on the first day of tryouts on September 5 at the North Campus Gym.

Further information regarding tryouts can be found here.
