MOVING DAY ON FRIDAY SETS UP FINAL SET OF GAMES AS TEAMS EYE PODIUM SPOTS
ETOBICOKE, ON: The first day of play determined the pool placements, but the results on Day 2 at Connorvale Park set up the pairings for the 5th/6th, Bronze Medal and Gold Medal games scheduled for Saturday.
QUARTER-FINAL 1
(3A) TRU 18 vs (2B) Ahuntsic 1

From the first at-bat in the day's first quarter-final match-up, it was clear that the TRU WolfPack were looking to avenge a poor hitting day at the plate on the opening day, scoring only two runs over the two games played. Hit they did, knocking out 10 hits on the game, while aided by 11 walks from Ahuntsic's hurlers. After the WolfPack's first at-bat, they held a 5-0 lead. Ahuntsic did answer with one of their own, after consecutive hits and a SAC fly.
At that point the roof caved in, as TRU scored 3 ,6, and 4 runs over the next three innings to put the game out of reach and shut down due to mercy rule.
With the win, TRU advanced to the semi-finals and a date with A Pool winners and defending champion St. Clair Saints. Ahuntsic will play in the 5th/6th game.

The second quarter-final mirrored the first game of the day, as the Fanshawe Falcons ran away with the game early on their way to a 13-0 mercy win over Holland College. With the win, Fanshawe will advance to the semi-finals, while Holland will play in the 5th/6th game.
By the time the Hurricanes recorded six Falcons outs, the game sat at 10-0. After a clean inning in the third, Fanshawe tacked on another three fourth.
Fanshawe raapped out 11 hits, while the Hurricanes could only manage 2. The big RBI player on the day was Kevin Bowden, who knocked in five runs.

(1A) St. Clair 9 vs (WQF1) TRU 6

St. Clair staged a comeback of epic proportions, and did so at the most opportune time, as they advanced to the 2018 NCBC final by way of a 9-6 win over TRU. The WolfPack burst out of the gates and held a 6-0 lead into the third inning. With two out and no one on, the Saints rallied for three runs to cut the lead in half at 6-3. Just an inning later, St. Clair scored six runs to put the game away. The combination of terrific base running and key hits did the trick.

The Hawks did something they had failed to do in this championship, and that was strike early. On Friday night they did just that, going through the lineup and ran out to a quick 5-0 lead. After a clean inning in the second, they scored in the next three, including having the mercy rule put into play by the unusual walk-off balk. Brendan Lyons was spectacular, spinning a two-hitter. Justin Marra had three hits and three runs batted in.
