No. 2 Men's Volleyball Sweeps Defending National Champions

ETOBICOKE – No. 2 Humber men's volleyball continued its dominant start to the season, extending its win streak to four with a straight-set sweep of Fanshawe (4-2, 5th West). The Hawks picked up the win by set scores of 25-18, 25-12, and 25-15.

The energy in the Hawks Nest was overwhelming Friday night, as Humber showed early dominance over the reigning national champions. Humber was able to show off their athletic ability, comfortably shutting down Fanshawe's offence and earning 14 total blocks throughout the match. Meanwhile, Jake Gomes had Humber's offence operating at full force, running tandems and racking up 28 assists. Kills by Maximum Crowder and Joshua Fadare maintained Humber's position on the scoreboard as the Fanshawe Falcons began to lose their steam. The Hawks continued to step on the gas pedal as they took the first set 25-18 and the second set 25-12.

Rrezart Sadiku and Eduardo Silva Ferreira continued to add to the Hawks' success by starting off the final set with solidifying service runs that put them in front of the competition. Humber's momentum remained unwavering as Joshua Fadare left the Falcons stuck on their heels with a dominant kill that pushed the Hawks to a nine-point advantage. Knowing the Falcons could turn the game around at any moment, the Hawks continued to play with full intensity and concentration. Andrew Blakey caused trouble at the net with back-to-back blocks that left no option for Fanshawe offensively. Maximum Crowder earned the final point of the match at 25-15, with an unexpected kill from the middle position.

Right side Joshua Fadare led the Humber Hawks to victory with 10 kills and two blocks, while Rrezart Sadiku followed behind with six kills and three aces.
