HAWKS CLOSE OUT 2019 CCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS WIN 3-1 WIN OVER HOLLAND

RED DEER, AB: The Humber Hawks men's volleyball received a full team effort on their way to a 3-1 (25-16, 20-25, 25-19, 25-18) win over PEI's Holland Hurricanes (ACAA) in the placement game at the 2019 CCAA Men's Volleyball Championship in Red Deer.

Although the overall team result was not what the team had hoped for, the final game did allow Hawks head coach Wayne Wilkins the opportunity to have his entire roster on the floor at some point in the match. This not only paid dividends in the game, but will also be a huge boost going forward to next year for this very young Hawks team.

Outstanding efforts came on all fronts. Contributions from the libero position were plentiful, the middle of the Humber line-up dominated, and outside hitters were effective with sets coming from Jake Gomes and Kamyn Wilkins.

Wilkins, by way of his 14 assists from the setters spot and nine kills when playing outside, earned him Humber Player of the Game honours.

Two Hawks were in double figures, led by Dylan Devecseri and his 12 kills. Andrew Blakey chimed in with 11 points, based on 8 kills, 2 blocks and an ace.
