HAWKS STAY PERFECT BY WAY OF 3-0 WIN OVER THE VISITING MOUNTAINEERS

ETOBICOKE, ON: On November 15^th, the Humber Hawk's Mens Volleyball team hosted the Mohawk Mountaineers, in a game which saw the Hawks winning streak extend to five by way of a 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-22) victory. 

The Hawks opened the first set on fire. Major kills by Kamyn Wilkins and Rafael Hilário left an unbeatable impression on the Mountaineers. After the Hawks ran out to a fast 11-6 lead, Mohawk called a timeout. Although they tried, the Mountaineers could not seem to catch up to the soaring Hawks. As they continued to crush balls onto Mohawk's court, the Hawks finished off the first set 25-15. 

The second set began with a major kill out of the right side by Rafael Hilário. Soon after, John Obi was welcomed onto the court, after being out due to an injury for a few weeks. Almost immediately after entering the court, Obi added another kill to his stat sheet. The Mountaineers found themselves falling behind the Hawks again, and chose to call a timeout at 21-15. Following this, Andrew Blakey and Kamyn Wilkins each smashed a kill onto the Mountaineers side of the court. This led to the Hawks taking the set 25-19. 

Jake Gomes started off the third set with three straight aces, quickly enforcing the Hawks determination to finish the game in three sets. Following this, John Obi towered in the middle position, slamming down a kill, making the crowd go wild. This pushed the Mountaineers head coach to call a timeout at 13-8. Coming out of the break, the Mountaineers pushed back and brought themselves back into the game. At 19-16, the Hawks began to loosen up, giving Mohawk three points and tying up the set. As the Mountaineers pushed hard for the final points of the set, the Hawks seemed to push harder. With a huge block by Maximum Crowder and Rafael Hilário, Humber denied Mohawk, and ended the final set at 25-22. 

The lead scorers in this match were Rafael Hilário and Kamyn Wilkins, with 12 and 9 kills respectively. The Hawk Nation Player of the Game was Rafael Hilário.

Next, the Hawks will travel to Sheridan College to take on the Bruins on November 21^st.
