HAWKS ROLL TO FOURTH STRAIGHT WIN BY WAY OF 3-1 ROAD WIN OVER ST. CLAIR

WINDSOR, ON: The undefeated Humber Hawks Mens Volleyball team travelled to Windsor on Saturday afternoon to play the winless St.Clair Saints. The hometown Saints battled, staving off defeat by snaring the third set, but the Humber squad closed out the match shortly after to complete the 3-1 win.

With the win, the Hawks record moves to 4-0 on the season, while the Saints drop to 0-4.

The Hawks gained an early 4 point lead in the opening set against the Saints. With a long serving run by Kamyn Wilkins, the Hawks expanded their advantage and forced St.Clair into a timeout at 16-11. Wilkins continued his run, bringing an overall nine point advantage to Humber. Another timeout was called by the Saints at 20-11, but they were too far behind to catch up to the flying Hawks. The set was finalized at 25-17.

Point for point, the Hawks had no more than a lead of 3 in the second set. This switched up when the Saints began to push back and stole a 12-11 advantage. Coach Wayne Wilkins called his first timeout of the game to try and deny the Saints from getting any further ahead. This worked, as the Saints began to fall behind once again. After a superior kill by rookie Rafael Hilário, the Hawks stole all the momentum from the Saints and ended the second set 25-18.

In the third set, the Saints seemed to finally find a rhythm and keep up with the Hawks. As the lead was traded back and forth, Humber made a few unforced errors and fell behind the Saints. The Hawk bench called a timeout while behind by 2 at 20-18. Then again at 22-19. As the Hawks desperately tried to regain their game,  but they gave the set to the Saints, 21-25.

The Hawks flew into the fourth set, dominating the Saints with a quick 7-1 advantage. Forced to take a time out before either team hit 10 points, the Hawks definitely made a statement to the Saints after losing their last set. After the time out, the Hawks continued to fly over St.Clair. Kill after kill, Humber pushed the St. Clair Saints to take their second time out at 15-5. Neither timeouts did much for the Saints, as the Hawks continued to roll over them on their home court. The game ended with a missed serve by St.Clair, finalizing the set at 25-13, and the match at 3-1

Leading scorers from this match were Rafael Hilário with 13 kills, while Kamyn Wilkins added 11 kills and 5 aces.

The Hawks host the Mohawk Mountaineers this coming Thursday, the 15th, at 8:00pm, or 30 minutes after the women's game ends.
