HAWKS WIN FIRST LEG OF NORTHERN SWING 3-0 AT CAMBRIAN

Recap by Aideena Wickstrom

SUDBURY, ON: On Saturday, November 3rd, the Hawks men's volleyball team travelled to Sudbury for a pair of league games. In the opener on Saturday night, they rolled over Cambrian in an impressive 3-0 victory, extending their league season to a 2-0 record.

The Hawks battled back and fourth with the Golden Shields in the opening set. This continued until Cambrian was forced to call an early timeout as Jake Gomes started a strong serving run. Creating a 5 point lead for the Hawks, Cambrian struggled to get themselves back into the game. With a killer swing from Kamyn Wilkins, the deficit increased for the home team. Now 10 points behind Humber, there was not much they could do as the Hawks quickly ended the set off 25-14.

The second set began with a huge kill from Collin Skanes, setting the vibe for what will be another amazing set for Humber. With perfect execution on the Hawks court, they gave Cambrian minimal chances to get themselves back into the game. As the Golden Shields called a time out at 19-11, they struggled to play against the massive wall the Hawks placed in front of them. The Hawks completed the set with a clean 25-12.

In the third set, the Hawks continued their reign of perfection. With two amazing blocks in the beginning of the match by rookie Maximum Crowder, Humber sent a clear message to Cambrian, that they would not ease up. Assist after Assist, Jake Gnomes led the Hawks to victory with pin point setting. With a 7 point lead, Kamyn Wilkins finished off the set with a massive kill.
