HAWKS IMPRESS IN 3-0 SWEEP OF CROSSTOWN SENECA STING SQUAD

Recap by: Aideena Wickstrom

ETOBICOKE, ON: Immediately following the women's game, the Men's Volleyball team hit the court to play their last exhibition game on Thursday night at the Humber Athletic Centre. Two weeks ago, the Hawks played an intense match against Seneca, dropping the match in four sets. This result bodes to another potential nail-biter between the two teams.

The Hawks started off with a three-point lead over Seneca, but that was quickly lost as the teams began to battle back and forth for points. At 11-11, the men's team began to slowly pull away again. With multiple kills by Andrew Blakey, the Hawks continue to prey on Seneca until they finished off the set at 25-19.

Beginning the second set, both teams traded points without letting either team get any sort of lead. With John Obi guarding the net from the middle position, the Hawks gained a two-point lead before losing it after a few minor errors. Brushing it off, the Hawks quickly redeemed themselves. With strong kills by Jacob Albert and Dylan Devecseri, the men's team finalized the second set, winning 25-22.

Before the third set even started, the Hawk's fan base was hyped in the stands. This helped the Hawks start off strong with a three-point lead. Following this, Rrezart Sadiku had a four-point serving run and forced Seneca to call a timeout. This did not seem to affect Rrezart, as he came back from the timeout with another ace. Now ahead by six points, the Hawks refused to let up. They finished Seneca off 25-13, and the match by way of a 3-0 win.

The men's team ended their pre-season on a great note, as they executed perfectly against Seneca. In two weeks, the Hawks will host their first league game of the season against the Redeemer Royals. The date of this home opener is October 25th at 8pm, and all students are encouraged to come and cheer both volleyball teams on!
