MEN'S VOLLEYBALL ALUMNI PROVIDE A TOUGH TEST FOR THE NEW HAWKS

Recap by Aideena Wickstrom

Today, our men's volleyball team fought against the teams alumni in a thrilling point for point match which truly showed how great Humber's volleyball teams can execute.

The first set was a stepping stone in this energetic back and forth match. Without one team getting a few points in front of another, this game escalated quickly with both teams fighting for the final point. The hawks fell just short to the alumni, losing 26-24.

Both the second and third set mimicked the first, with both teams intensely fighting within points of each other. In these sets though, the men's team was able to grasp the wins over the alumni, finishing both matches 25-23.

In the fourth set, the Hawks had a slow start, digging themselves down by 5 points. This slow start quickly turned into motivation for the men's team to fire back harder. They quickly shortened the alumni's lead and pulled themselves far ahead into the 20's. The game could have gone either way as the alumni brought themselves back within a couple points of the Hawks. But the Hawks held their ground and pushed away with the 25-22 win.

This game, filled with OCAA and CCAA All Canadians, along with players from the 2011/2012 team which won Nationals, demonstrated how amazing the history, and near future, of the varsity Hawks truly is.
