HAWKS DOMINATE CONDORS AND BOOK TICKET TO SEMIS

BARRIE, ON: The Humber Hawks men's volleyball team started the 2018 OCAA Men's Volleyball playoffs in fine fashion, as they defeated the Conestoga Condors 3-1 (25-15, 25-19, 29-31, 25-16) and have now advanced to the OCAA Semi-Finals. The match is set for 8:00 pm on Friday night against the host and number one team from the East, the Georgian Grizzlies. The Grizzlies advanced to the semi-final by way of a 3-0 win over the Niagara Knights.

The match did go four sets, courtesy of a thrilling 31-29 third set win by the Condors, but beyond that set it was the Hawks that dominated the play in the other three sets. This was proven completely in the fourth and final set, as the Hawks ran out to a 12-2 lead and never looked back.

Many Hawks provided terrific performances along the way, led by Humber Player of the Game Kamyn Wilkins. He served tough all night, accounting for half a dozen aces to lead both teams. Clayton Blanchette  and Dylan Devecseri were also stellar, picking holes for multiple kills in each set.

"I thought we played very well tonight", said Hawks head coach Wayne Wilkins. "Although our offence seemed to shine with a number of monster kills, it was our team defence that impressed me all evening".

BY THE NUMBERS
