HAWKS OPEN FINAL 8 ON THURSDAY VS CONESTOGA IN BARRIE

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks men's volleyball team, currently ranked as the number six team in the nation, will open the 2018 OCAA volleyball championships on Thursday evening at Georgian College in Barrie with a match-up with a familiar foe in the West Division's Conestoga Condors.

SCOUTING CONESTOGA

  • The Condors are led by head coach Wayne Harris. He is a much decorated coach in the OCAA, and has led many fine teams at Redeemer before moving on to Conestoga
  • The Condors squad ranks in the middle of the pack in many of the team statistical categories, topping out on the defensive side of the game in blocks and digs
  • Wesley Law is the hitter of note, and checks in with a fine mark of 4.0 points per set. He is supported by four players with averages above 2.1 pps, led by Jahsan Toney (2.5)

HAWK NOTES

  • Humber has moved up to number six in the national rankings, and has occupied number two in the province for a number of weeks now
  • The team statistical rankings indicate a very balanced squad, with a similarly balanced attack
  • Freshman Dylan Devesceri leads the way with a mark of 4.0 points per set. With him in the line-up, the Hawks are a terrific 14-1. Humber also boasts two players ablove the 3.3 pps mark. Clayton Blanchette, the 2017 OCAA scoring champion checks in at 3.4, and Kamyn Wilkins is close behind, at 3.3

  • Head Coach Wayne Wilkins is second in all-time coaching wins mark at Humber. It currently sits at 330 wins. In his 23 years, his teams have only lost 118 times.
