HAWKS ELEVENTH STRAIGHT WIN COMES ON ROAD AT REDEEMER

The Humber Hawks Men's Volleyball squad takes the win in Ancaster against the third ranked Redeemer Royals tonight to further prove their rank in Canada. The first set was taken by Redeemer (25-27), with Humber sweeping the next three sets (25-14), (25-23), (25-22). This was one of Humber's most well fought games, going up against solid defense, and a deafening crowd. 

In the first set, Redeemer showcased their love and passion for the game, with roaring fans, and a lot of energy to start it off. The Hawks battled and closed in on the Royals to make it tight in the end, continuously adding pressure, and showing how well the Hawks can put away balls. Redeemer kept up their early energy to take the first set (27-25).  

The second set started off with Humber racking up the points, controlling the pace of game. The middles on Humber (Andrew Blakey, and Collin Skanes) stepped up to dominate at the net. Blakey hit at a .556 hitting percentage for the 5th time this season, and Skanes intimidated with a solid blocking performance. The Hawks seemed to get their energy in this set, and rose up to play at their full potential to win the set (25-14).  

The final two sets were very similar for both teams. Humber stayed ahead, but had to play to the best of their ability for the entire time. Redeemer kept up their positive energy and high level of play, but could not get in front of the Hawks. Bring errors down, and playing side out volleyball helped the Hawks keep their lead and close out each set. The setting on The Humber side of the set was incredible, with Rady Kim playing smart, and controlling the game. He even got up on the board with multiple kills from the left side, and many dumps to the pot. Both teams battled hard, and played some of the best volleyball of the season. The third set ended (25-23), and the fourth (25-22). 

Key Hawks of the game: Dylan Devecseri performed insanely well, showing the league his ability once again. He put up 16 kills with only 4 errors, having one of his best attacking games yet. Both middles played well, and helped funnel the ball to an excellent back row. Kamyn Wilkins had 8 digs, Rady Kim had 9, and Quinton Hudgins had 5, with 28 digs as a team. Humber played as a team, stayed composed, and brought home their 11th straight win, clinching a crossover game at the Hawks Nest.  

Quinton Hudgins also had a few words after the game – "It was a great game for the team. We played together the whole game and we battled for every point. It was a great atmosphere for the game, the Redeemer were amazing and kept the energy high through out the game" 

Humber will  host the Sheridan Bruins on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 pm.
