ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks men's volleyball team, swept in two road matches this past weekend in Windsor and London, will look to "right-the-ship" this Friday night as they travel to Hamilton to play the Mohawk Mountaineers.

LAST TIME OUT VS MOHAWK
Despite a valiant effort in the opening set, a 30-28 loss, the Hawks were swept in three straight (30-28, 25-18, 25-11) at home by the eventual OCAA champions from Mohawk. OCAA leading scorer from Humber, Clayton Blanchette, was unable to match his season average but still led Humber with ten offensive points. Mohawk had ten players score points on the night, led by Cody Charlton's 12.
SCOUTING MOHAWK
- Perhaps the biggest move of all was seeing the men's coach Matthew Schnarr move from the head spot with the men to the lead role with the women.
- Mohawk won OCAA gold last year
- Their roster is almost split evenly, as they return nine players and boast seven freshman
- Gone are the Mountaineers three leading scorers from last year. Trevor McLaughlin (4.1), Eric Girard (3.9) and Nathan Delguidice (3.8) carried the offence. Setter Chris Spack (503 assists) is also gone
- Second Year player Mitch McFadden has been on fire, and checks in with a mark of 6.3 points per set
- Mohawk was whitewashed by St. Clair and Sheridan before beating Niagara on the road last week
HAWK NOTES
- Humber has started the season with a win, but then lost the last two on the road
- The Hawks have yet to field a full team, as injuries have been their undoing early this season
- Clayton Blanchette continues to be the main cog in the Hawks offence, but his mark of 3.8 pps is well below last year's standard
- Veteran Kamyn Wilkins, back after a couple of years away, has been a plus both offensively and defensively
- Freshman Alex Bowden has shown glimpses of being a "take-over-the-game" type of player, but needs to be more consistent from set to set
- Hawks setting has been shared by Rady Kim and Jake Gomes, with Kim leading the way with a mark of 4.92 assists per set
CHASING HISTORY
- Head Coach Wayne Wilkins recently saw his brother Chris (Hawks women's volleyball coach) eclipse the all-time wins mark set by Mike Katz of Hawks men's basketball fame. Wayne is just three wins away from usurping Katz as number two all-time, an accomplishment he is sure to find this season
- Clayton Blanchette is the only player of note that is moving up steadily through the all-time lists for the Hawks. He already appears in the top five of all-time "per set averages – points, kills, aces. And, he is certainly in line to move into the top five of career points and kills, and may move up from his fourth spot in service aces
