HUMBER VOLLEYBALL SIGNS MULTI-SPORT ATHLETE

ETOBICOKE, Ont – Multi-sport athlete Jackson Brear has committed to joining the Humber Hawks men's volleyball program for the upcoming 2017-18 season, announced head coach Wayne Wilkins.

A native of North Bay, Brear played numerous sports at West Ferris Secondary School, excelling in basketball, football, baseball, soccer, hockey and volleyball.

"We are really looking forward to having Jackson join the squad," said three-time OCAA coach of the year Wayne Wilkins.  "He is a big strong outside hitter that will bring us his ability to score with a strong desire to compete."

In five years of volleyball for the West Ferris Trojans, Brear was an integral part of his teams' success, guiding the junior Trojans to a NOSSA title in 2013.  On the senior squad, he led West Ferris to a NOSSA 'AAA' title and an OFSAA berth, while being named team MVP three years running.

On the football field, Brear played five seasons, splitting time as a quarterback and wide receiver. After being named rookie of the year, he helped the Trojans win two NDA titles in 2014 and 2016.

His multi-sport dominance led Brear being named North Bay's 2016 Male Athlete of the Year.

At Humber, Brear will be enrolling in the electrical engineering technology program, a three-year advanced diploma.

"I just want to be the best player I can be," said Brear when asked what his goals are for the upcoming season.  "I want to work hard to become a starter and an even better teammate."

Brear, along with incoming recruits David Fountain and Jake Gomes, will join the rest of the Humber Hawks volleyball team when training camp begins in July.
