WELLAND, ON: The Humber men's volleyball team won an impressive four set match against the Niagara Knights to improve their record to 5-0 on November 23, 2016.

Humber and Niagara were toe-to-toe for the first 10 points of set one, until a huge block by second-year leftside Clayton Balcnhette shifted momentum in favour of the Hawks. The rhythm was working well and the offense was executing on nearly everything. Blanchette lead the match in kills with a total of 24.

Hawks libero, Josh Liang was playing tremendous defense, and lead the match with a total of 11 digs. Humber took the first set 25-17.

Humber was in control through the majority of the second set. Two missed serves by Niagara put the score to 18-16 for Humber. Shortly after, Humber made a few unforced errors, and the score was very tight. An error at 24-24 would result in Humber calling a time out to try and break Niagara's advantage. Humber came back in from the timeout and came back to win set two, 27-25.

Niagara came back strong in the third set, and both teams were battling for every point. Defense was great on both sides, with players diving into the score table, off the back wall just to keep the ball in play. Both teams were working hard, but Niagara took set three, 26-24.

Serving picked up for Humber in the fourth set, and Niagara had a more difficult time returning a hard driven ball. Starting setter, Adam Kinoshita had a total of 3 service aces for the match. Both teams were still playing great defense, but this time Humber had a better dynamic and less errors. The Hawks were playing a much more controlled game, both on defense and at the net. Blocking was more disciplined. First-year middle had a total of 5 blocks for the match.

Humber took set four, 25-22.

The team will look to improve their 5 wins to 6 as they head out to London on Saturday to play against Fanshawe.
