FIVE MEN'S SOCCER PLAYERS EARN ALL-OCAA DISTINCTION

At the 2018 OCAA Awards Banquet, Humber received four all-star selections, along with the central division defensive player of the year award.

TORONTO, Ont – Winning its ninth division title in ten seasons with a 7-1-2 record, No. 5 Humber men's soccer landed five players with All-OCAA League recognition Wednesday evening when the league announced its yearly awards as determined by a polling of the conference's coaches.

Freshman Riley Ferrazzo paced the way for the Hawks and was named the Central Division Defensive Player of the Year. Ferrazzo played in all ten matches for Humber, recording three tallies, including the game-winner against Cambrian on Sept. 22. He becomes the third Hawk to receive the honour, joining Marcelo Cappozolo (2010) and Humber legend Kingsley Boasiako (2014-17).

Michael Fayehun, Julian Mullin, Federico Leal, and Jaineil Hoilett were each named league all-stars as Humber received four-plus all-stars for the third straight year.

2015 All-Canadian Jaineil Hoilett was named an all-star for the fourth consecutive season, finishing the year with five goals and moving into fifth all-time on Humber's career scoring list.

Joining Humber after playing his freshman season with Algonquin, Federico Leal led the team with seven tallies, recording three multi-goal matches this year.

Midfielder Julian Mullin was named an all-star for the second straight year, while defender Michael Fayehun received the honour in his first season in the OCAA.

Since 1993, Humber leads the OCAA with 65 all-star honourees.

The end of the banquet marks the beginning of the 2018 OCAA Championship tournament, hosted by George Brown College. Top-ranked Humber will square-off against Niagara in the quarter-finals on Oct. 25. Kickoff is set for 9 a.m. and the live stream can be found here.
