The Storyline
Earning a berth to the postseason with its 22nd regular-season division title, No. 4 Humber men's soccer will face No. 13 Niagara (7-2-1, 2nd West) in the quarter-final round of the 2018 OCAA Championship on Oct. 25 at 9 a.m. The winner will take on Fanshawe or UTM in the semifinal on Friday.  

The Tournament
Humber has qualified for its tenth straight tournament, winning six provincial titles during that span.

Scouting Niagara

  • The Knights earned a trip to the tournament with a 2-1 win over Seneca on Oct. 20 in a crossover match. After the Sting tied the match in the 74th minute, Niagara's Alex Latham scored the go-ahead goal in the 80th.
  • Oti Frigole led the Knights with 11 tallies, the fifth most in the conference.
  • Keeper Romario James finished with a 5-2-1 record on the season, allowing nine goals and making 41 saves.
  • Led by ninth-year head coach Frank DeChellis, the Knights are making their fourth consecutive tournament appearance.

Postseason Meeting
Humber and Niagara met in the postseason for the first time in the 2017 bronze medal match. Despite two red cards, Humber escaped 1-0, capturing the programs 22nd OCAA medal.

GOOOAL
Ten Humber players recorded a tally this season, led by Luca Baldassarre and Federico Leal with seven each.

Re-Up
With the week break, Humber will welcome back some key players from injury in preparation of playing three matches in three days.

OCAA Banquet
Wednesday will be the annual awards banquet, hosted by George Brown. Regular season awards will be announced by the league during the evening.

Humber will be joined by Niagara, Fanshawe, UTM, Algonquin, George Brown, Durham, and Sheridan.

Top Dogs
With 11 provincial titles, the Hawks are tied with Algonquin for the most all-time. Humber's 22 provincial medals rank second all-time to Seneca's 24.

At the Helm
In his sixth season with Humber, head coach Michael Aquino is making his sixth straight tournament appearance. All-time, Coach Aquino is 13-2 (.867) in OCAA postseason action.
