Men's Soccer Adds Standout Federico Leal Suarez For Upcoming Season

ETOBICOKE, Ont -- The Humber Hawks men's soccer team is pleased to announce the signing of Federico Leal Suarez for the upcoming 2018 varsity season, announced head coach Michael Aquino.

Federico joins the program with an impressive soccer resume after competing overseas and playing last season with the Algonquin Thunder.

"We are very excited about Federico joining our program," said Coach Aquino, who has led the Hawks to three national titles in five years. "He is a dynamic player who can play in the final third and will score his share of goals."

At the age of 14, Federico played in the first division in Brazil, for Cruzeiro Esporte Clube. When he was 18, he spent time in the Czech Republic, playing first division for the Dynamo Ceske Budejovice.

"Federico will be a key player in our attempt to regain a provincial championship and return to nationals," added Coach Aquino.

From 2014-17, Federico played for the Ottawa Fury FC, leading the team to the U15 Boys' Super Y-League North American Championship in 2014. The Fury was the first boys' team in the 12-year history of the Academy to capture the North American Championship. That year Federico was the league's top scorer and named an all-star.

"I chose Humber for the support and facilities offered to its student-athletes," Federico said. "My goal on the field this season is simple .. to win."

A native of Ottawa, Ont., Federico has enrolled in the Sport Management program, a three-year advanced diploma at Humber College.

Federico will join his Humber teammates in August when tryouts begin. For the full tryout schedule, click here.
