PROLIFIC OFFENCE LEADS No. 1 MEN’S SOCCER PAST CAMBRIAN, 4-0

VAUGHAN, Ont – Sparked by its tenacious offence, No. 1 Humber men's soccer (9-0-0, 1st Central) raced past Cambrian (3-6-1, 4th Central), 4-0, Sunday afternoon at the Ontario Soccer Centre.

Marc Medeiros and Andi Motina netted their first-career goals, while Luca Baldassarre and Michael Aigbokie also found the back of the net for Humber. Daniel Voci recorded the shutout – Humber's sixth of the season.

Despite a dominant first half by Humber, where the Hawks outshot Cambrian 17-0, the score was deadlocked at zero after 45 minutes of play.

After a weather delay due to high winds and a torrential downpour, Humber's offence continued to press, when Marc Medeiros found the back of the net in the 54th minute for his first career goal.

The Hawks put the match out of reach in the 72nd minute when Luca Baldassarre recorded his team-leading ninth tally of the season and the 20th of his career.

Baldassarre's goal opened the floodgates for Humber, and the Hawks recorded two more goals in the next ten minutes.  Andi Motina found the back of the net for his first career goal for Humber in the 75th minute, followed by Michael Aigbokie's goal in the 83rd minute.

Humber Highlights:

  • Humber's backline was tough on Cambrian for the full 90 minutes and didn't allow the Golden Shield to record a shot during the match.
  • Humber's shots (31) and corner kicks (14) were new season-highs.

Game Notes:

  • Luca Baldassarre's nine goals are a new career-high.
  • Michael Aigbokie's goal was the 30th of his career, moving him into second all-time on Humber's career scoring list.
  • Daniel Voci picked up his second win in the blue and gold, his first career shutout.
