BACK-TO-BACK NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR MEN'S SOCCER

FORT McMURRAY, AB: For the fourth time in five seasons, the Humber Hawks men's soccer team has won the CCAA national championship after defeating the hometown Keyano Huskies 2-0.

An exhilerating display of talent and passion from both teams as they took the field. It wasn't until a red card issued to Keyano in the 26th minute that gave the Hawks the advantage.

The game remained scoreless in the first half, however, Humber responded quickly in the second when third-year forward Jordan Piccinin (Brampton) scored his third goal of the tournament at the 48 minute mark. The Hawks up 1-0 with a one-man advantage.

The Huskies defended well, generating some key opportunities but were unable to score on Hawks' goalkeeper, Karman Singh (Etobicoke), who would earn his third clean sheet of the tournament. Then in the 73rd minute, three-time defensive player of the year Kingsley Boasiako (Brampton) displayed his offensive skillset by netting Humber's second and final goal of the match off of a corner kick.

Ending the game at 2-0, Humber has made history. The win gives the Hawks their sixth national title in program history, tying Capilano for most in the country.  It also made Humber the first OCAA program to finish the season with a perfect record, after finishing 16-0-0 this season.

The Hawks' Julian Mullin (Brampton), Kingsley Boasiako (Brampton), Jaineil Hoilett (Brampton), and Marcos Nunes (Brampton), were all named to the tournament all-star team and Nunes was crowned as the tournaments' MVP.
