NUMBER 1 HAWKS LIVE UP TO BILLING WITH 4-0 GOLD MEDAL WIN

ANCASTER, ON: The Humber Hawks left no doubt that they are the number one team in the province and the top rated club in the country, as they rolled to the OCAA gold medal by way of a 4-0 whitewashing of the Algonquin Thunder on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks finished the tournament 3-0, scoring 14 goals and surrendering just a single marker.

With the victory, Humber will have the opportunity to defend its national crown of a year ago, as they advance to the CCAA National Championships in Fort MacMurray, Alberta. The Hawks have won three of the last four CCAA titles.

It was all Hawks on this day. As mentioned above, they outscored Algonquin 4-0, but they also controlled the ball, outshot and out-chanced the Ottawa club.

OCAA Player of the Year Marcos Nunes opened the scoring in the first half by way of a penalty kick that carried into the bottom left of the net. Patrick Majcher extended the lead to 2-0 at the half.

These same two players scored again in the second half, in the same order as the first.

Karman Singh stayed perfect on the weekend by not allowing a goal, and was credited with the win.

Julian Mullen was named the Humber Hawks Player of the Game.

It was no surprise when the post-championship awards were handed out. Karman Singh and Marcos Nunes were named Championship All Stars, while Patrick Majcher was honoured as the MVP.
